The Power of Your Mind

I read a piece today that said “You can deal with the pain of discipline today or the pain of regret tomorrow." It got me thinking about how true victory comes from disciplining your mind by gaining control over your thoughts and actions. When your mind tells you that life is too hard, discipline your mind by telling it that you can overcome hard things. Don’t feed your negative emotions. Anything you don’t feed, will shrivel and ultimately die. Train your mind to keep going and say ‘Yes’ to your dreams and your potential! “The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.” Thoughts eventually lead to actions. So, training your mind to think positively takes discipline, but it is worth doing because it will create actions and a lifestyle that reflect the best version of yourself. On the other hand negative thoughts lead to regrettable actions. They are also contagious; which is why it’s very important to surround yourself with positive people and influences. Purge yourself of pessimists and surround yourself with optimists. Optimists have a “can do’ attitude. They believe they can achieve the goals they have set for themselves, which makes them more likely to actually accomplish their aspirations. They see an opportunity in every difficulty. Theodore Roosevelt said “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty …“ It’s normal to be positive when things go the way you want. But it’s when life goes awry and we face setbacks, that our true frame of mind is revealed. Positive thinking & self-discipline is how you take back control of your life! Things only have as much power as you give them.

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” - Lao Tzu
